Autumn's Picks

Located in Austin's hippest area, SoCo (South Congress), Perla's is a staple in Austin for great oysters. Also known for their delectable brunch menu, Perla's is a great place to meet up with friends but be sure to make a reservation as this hot spot fills up quickly!

Did you know that Austin averages 300 days of sunshine a year? Autumn Rich and Co. could't find a better way to spend some of those sun-filled days than at Ski Shores Cafe. Located on Lake Austin, you can boat or walk up to the Cafe and enjoy some delicious burgers and beer. There's even a playground for the kiddos but WILL have boat envy by the end of your meal!

The Courtyard is nestled in between lush greenery at the Hotel San Jose. Hotel San Jose is a fabulous modern boutique hotel but it is best known by locals and tourists as a hot spot to grab some beer, wine and light fare at any given time. Make sure to try the cheese plate and Autumn's favorite, the Champassion (champagne and passion fruit juice).

TRIO is an upscale steak and seafood restaurant with beautiful views of Lady Bird Lake and you can even catch some bat watching on the outdoor terrace. If you're looking for a place to grab drinks, TRIO was named, "Austin's Best Happy Hour" by Austin Chronicle and Austin Monthly. Hit up TRIO on Sundays as well for their brunch and don't forget to order some bottomless mimosas!

Clark's Oyster Bar is a great place to come in the spring. With perfect outdoor seating, you can enjoy a Bloody Mary or one of their signature oysters. You also can't go wrong with one of the burgers.

Austin's favorite sno cone stand, Sno Beach, is back until Halloween. Sno Beach is great for a hot summer day. Try the Blue Coconut for a light refreshing flavor. One of the kids favorites is Rainbow!

Hamilton Pool is one of Austin's best kept secrets. Located off Highway 71, the hidden oasis is a great place to come for a picnic and a nice refreshing swim. Don't forget to get under the waterfall for a fun experience.

  • If you are looking for a great place to enjoy a drink and the cool spring weather, head to Rattle Inn to experience their rooftop deck. You can also check out the bars downstairs and listen to the Texas themed music.

  • If you are looking for great Mexican food in Austin, Maudie’s Tex Mex is your place. The fajitas and margaritas are great.

  • Located in East Austin, Justine’s Brasserie is a great place to come for a late night bite and fabulous drinks. With constant spinning records, the ambiance of this restaurant is one-of-a-kind. The escargot and the French 75 are must try items.

  • One of South Congress’ most visited restaurants and President Clinton’s favorite, Guero’s Taco Bar has one of the best margaritas in town, the Purist. Come here for great food and drinks while enjoying one of Austin’s most famous areas. People watching can’t be beat!

  • Known for the Trashy Trailer Park, Torchy’s Tacos is a great place to have authentic Austin tacos. Research the “secret menu” to see what new tacos you can find. Best queso according to Autumn!

  • Josephine House of Clarksville in Austin is a great place to come to enjoy lunch on a nice day on their outdoor patio. Weekly Monday Steak Frites is something you definitely need to try.

  • Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS (DIFFA/Dallas) raises funds for organizations that aid in the fight against HIV/AIDS. On March 29th come see me walk the runway for the House of DIFFA Masquerade 2014. Autumn will be representing the 2014 Style Council for DIFFA and will be walking the runway!

  • Historic Hotel Ella inhabits the Goodall Wooten Mansion, which is one of Austin’s oldest landmarks. The completely renovated hotel has great porches for sipping a cocktail, a fabulous pool complete with Umlauf sculptures, a cozy restaurant and bar, as well as luxuriously appointed rooms. A great addition to the Austin hotel scene.

  • Second Bar + Kitchen is a great place to come to enjoy a lunch or dinner in a casual yet sophisticated atmosphere. Chef David Bull has created a menu like no other in Austin. Be sure and try their famous fried pickles or one of the many craft cocktails.

  • While in NYC hit the inconspicuous Lucky Strike – not the bowling alley – but the fun little bar and bistro. A great mimosa and a turkey burger gives you a boost for SoHo shopping!

  • One of the best restaurants I’ve tried in years. Located on Magazine Street, you won’t want to miss this gem. Try the beef short ribs or the butternut squash agnolotti. We tried the Paydirt 2011 blend wine. Superb.
